Just Standing Here
There you are in the window, accompanied by frost and damp and the rising sun – another one of those incandescent moments (or “takes”) you never thought would work out.
What a curious thing life is to be sure. The images that should capture perfectly turn out to be just wide sheets of snow with the odd long blue shadow thrown in for good measure. It is the common everyday stuff that seems to shine with its own perfect light and convey a kind of wild blessing.
You so want to share this and realize with a sinking feeling that you have not the words or expertise to do so. It will have to be enough just to stand here and bear witness to the wonder, taking comfort in the notion that sometimes an image might be complete all by itself and need no words from the beholder.

What an interesting image, Cate, and a reminder that the unexpected in the everyday is sometimes the most delightful photo capture. I’m glad that you stand and bear witness, but I’m also really glad you share your words.

For some reason I came back to this hauntingly beautiful image today. Across the miles and the seasons, we have caught glimpses of each other through these images and simple words that try to say things we are incapable of saying. You have touched my heart, Cate.
