The porch at our RV Park is a welcoming place. People gather there while waiting for their laundry to get done. Early risers sit together drinking coffee and watching the sunrise. Long time residents answer questions of newcomers regarding TV options, WiFi, pool hours and other neighborhood topics. Walkers stop and chat with rockers.
I think about all the people in our world who have been displaced by natural disasters, wars, and environmental migration; all the people who have lost loved ones and those who have lost themselves. We need welcoming places. We need porches where we can come together and enjoy one another’s company, where we can feel safe and know that we belong.
